I learn, and learn, and learn, and DO!

OK, so I've been crazy-busy doing all sorts of new and groovy stuff. I'm not even sure where to start - but I'll try to begin with the happenings of a couple of weeks ago and come forward to now.

I still haven't had to have anything put through my feeding tube, so now it's been 18 days!! I have been eating my puree baby foods with cereal mixed in, and even some of the stage 3 foods are becoming my friends. Along with my beloved 'milk box'es that I use I also have 2 bigger straw bottles that I groove to. Today Mummy gave me a couple of smoothies... which were my puree foods mixed with my Nutren Jr and some heavy cream. YUMMY -- and Mummy says they are full of good calories for me.

I started last week getting myself into this weird sort of 3/4 crawl position, and I was doing good reaching for stuff like that. One of my feet was always stuck in that position...and I simply couldn't figure out how to untangle it from my other leg. But I could get into that position and reach far - then go onto my belly - then sit up again and pivot around and start again. It made it very interesting for me...and I could get all the way across the room in this manner. It was sweet!!!

I have a few new words... I said 'kitty', 'book', and I mimiced the all mighty cat meow sound today!! I also say MaMa a lot more than ever these days - and Mummy is really enjoying it!!!

I have discovered that I am truly becoming a toddler in every sense of the word. Which is fine with me...but apparently could take a toll on Mummy & Daddy. I like to throw a little now and then when things aren't going my way. It doesn't always make it so that I actually get my way - but at least they KNOW that I'm not very happy!!!

On this past Friday night... now take a seat for this one... I actually took a few little crawl 'steps'. Oh yeah... right on my little hands and knees - every so causiously I moved my little hands and legs and got a little way forward. And I tried it again on Saturday... it was sooo cool!

On Sunday we did the March of Dimes walk, and it was great fun!! We had more people walking with us this year for Ethan's Journey and we did well on the walk. It didn't even rain on us, and by the time it started to sprinkle we were ready to come on home! I think that we doubled the amount we raised last year, and I'm so happy and proud to help other little babies like me!

Once we came home on Sunday and we all relaxed for a while, I gave that crawling thing another shot...and guess what??? I am REALLY good at it!!!! I just took off crawling all over the floor... I got to the TV - then over to my toys - then to the Roomba - back to my toys - back to the TV - and as I headed for Cellar's litterbox I was cut off at the pass!!!! I really like this whole moving on my own thing!!!!

Today - Mummy and Nana went out and took me with them. We did some errands, and when we came home there was a lot of hub-bub in the living room with Mummy & Daddy and some plastic stuff.... I went outside to play with Nana... when I came back there it was!!! My new baby play yard!!! I guess it keeps me away from the TV - and the Roomba - and sockets and plugs...but they did move Cellar's litterbox!

Well, I do love you all. And thank you once again for all your prayers over the last year and a half. Look how far I've come!!!!!!

Dr. Pam was sick :-(

Well, Dr. Pam was sick yesterday so I didn't get to see her after all. :-(

But Mum threw me on the scale at home and I weigh in at about 21 lbs, 4 - 5 ozs. Not bad! I guess I'm going to get a new appointment to see Dr. Pam. Then I can find out how tall I am too! Ya-Hoo!!

Every Day... Something New!

Hi everybody! I missed writing to you last week and telling you about all the exciting things that are happening with me! I had a fantastic Easter, and I hope you all did too.

I went to spend Easter Sunday with at my Nana's house this year. It was lots of fun! I got to play lots with Uncle Roy, Nana, & Grandpa. Then on Easter Conner and his Mum-Mum and Daddy came over. We dressed up as Bunnies... I actually liked it this year! Then I got to play with Conner...and guess what???? I didn't even cry!!! I was just having the very best time.

I have been doing loads of new and groovy stuff these past couple of weeks. I have something new that I like to do a lot of... and you saw the pic above. I LOVE drinking from my Rubbermaid juice box! LOVE IT!!!! I just drink away until my 'milk' is all gone! And Mummy and Daddy sit and watch me in shock!!! I'm so happy being able to control something that when Mummy sits me down to eat now... I don't give her as much trouble! Cuz I know that when I finish my meal I can sit and drink from my juice box at my own pace. Fast or slow... I finish it every time now!! Mummy and Daddy haven't had to put any of my food through my tube for 4 days now!!! HOW'S THAT FOR HUGE NEWS????? Gosh, I am getting to be such a big boy now!

I still enjoy standing and sitting, and now I try harder to walk. WOW... it's very fun to do, but it makes me tired - I still have to hold Mummy's or Daddy's fingers or I'd fall RIGHT over! And I'm getting much better at sitting up from laying on the floor - I only need just a little bit of help these days. Before you all know it I'll be standing at your door and knocking, so I can walk in on my own!

Tomorrow, I go see Dr. Pam and I can tell her all the great eating tricks I've been learning! I think she is going to be really happy with me this time. And she will weigh me too... I can't wait to see how huge-big I am on the charts this month! I'll drop you a cheeky little note to tell you about my bigness tomorrow or Wednesday. :-D

Well, I have a lot of playing and learning to do, so I have to go for now.

Did you miss me??

I'm very sorry that I didn't write last week. I had the best of all surprises last Monday - my cousin Conner came to visit -- and he stayed until Friday!!! I was very excited to see him. Before you all ask...yes he did make me cry! At first he didn't mean to but then it became a game... He would screach... I would cry... and when I started to calm down again -- another screach! OY it was hard on my for a while, but by the end of the week we were playing nicely together. Conner really walks good -- he moves around the house like a flash of lightning and can get to EVERYTHING! I was jealous of that... cuz I still don't walk yet. But I'm really, really trying.

I'm still eating and drinking from my open cup. I like it that way, I also like to drink from water bottles... and my bottle - as long as the nipple is not attached... just the open bottle thanks!! I'm sure that I'm gaining lots of weight!! I have another appointment with Dr. Pam on the 17th, so I can let you know how I'm doing then!

Just yesterday I think I found my calling... Mummy and Daddy are pretty sure that I am to be the next David Beckham, but I think I may be the next Uncle Cliff. Surely you've seen the pic above that shows me working on my 'car'... what do you think??

My Latest Tricks!

Hi everybody!!! I have had a GREAT week!!!!! I'm completely back to my 'normal' self! I am eating like a champ ~ even my Dr. John thinks so cuz I saw him this afternoon and I gained a whopping 11 ounces!!! WOW -- it would take me months to do that in the NICU!!! So now I weigh 21 lbs - aren't you proud of me?? I am HUGE-BIG measuring 31 1/2 inches tall, and I have finally begun to act like a true toddler. That's right, I like to do a little tantrum when things aren't going my way! I pitch a little mini-fit until Mummy or Daddy figures out what I need - or don't want. They don't last long - just a few seconds to a minute until I get my point across. I like to do things... for myself! And it's frustrating cuz I don't have the best motor skills as you all know -- but I CAN do this: I can pull myself to a standing position by holding onto the bar of my walker!!!! YEAH BABY!!! And I can spend all day doing my standing and sitting routine...with a little butt-shaking dancing in between! If I happen to be sitting and somebody puts the music on, I immediately pull myself up and start shaking my butt to the music -- I DO love to dance!!!!

In other news; my friends Sam & Alan turned 2, and I was invited to the party. It was at this really cool place where you could play all you want to!!! I played in the toddler section, and my Daddy helped me use the xylophone - which I loved. I did a little standing and sitting in there too - I do it everyplace that I can! I had a good time at the party, and I managed not to get to overstimulated - that's right, no melt downs for me!

I'm still waiting on these molars to come in...and my gums HURT!!! Sometimes just when I can't take it anymore, Mum or Dad give me some Motrin or Tylenol and I feel better. It hurts getting teeth - and from what I see they're loads of work with all the brusha brusha and all! I guess I don't have a choice though.

Feeling better... eating food... and a BIG change!

Hi everybody! Being sick last week was really hard! I didn't want to do much of anything, especially eat! Sometimes I didn't even feel like playing, I just wanted to sit around and voice my opinions on everything! But now I'm all better, and I'm back to having a good time!

I guess the first thing you would have noticed by now is that I had a big 'ole haircut! Mummy and Daddy say that I look like a little boy now...not so much like a baby. Daddy seems fine with that - but Mummy says it and looks a little sad. I wonder why?! She does all this hard work to make me grow and get bigger and when I do she says her little baby boy is all but gone... I don't understand, but I love all the hugs and kisses she gives me! Do you think I look like a big boy now???

I'm starting to eat better now this week, which is making me and Mummy & Daddy much happier! I like food -- and I like it when I feel like eating. So I'll let you know how that goes as we get through this week. :-)

Yesterday, I went to see my friend Max. He's a little bit younger than me, but he's the same size as me... maybe a little bigger. No matter to me though, we had a good time playing. Max is hard to keep up with cuz he walks around a lot...and FAST! He's really, really nice though, and he played with my Mummy too! I had so much fun, I hope I can go back again!!

I don't really have any other big news this week, so I'll sign off for now.

My job is to drive my Mummy & Daddy crazy!

I'm posting late today, I know. I hope you'll all forgive me! I have been sick this week... sniffle, small fever, and a HUGE COUGH. I'm talking a GIANORMOUS cough! And I cough and cough until I throw up. Finally today, Mummy had enough of my coughing and wheezing -- and she and Daddy wisked me off to see my Dr. John! I miss him... I haven't seen him in a long time. The bad news is... I've lost some 3 ounces! The good news is... I don't have any kind of lung infection... and the semi-bad news is that I'm just starting an ear infection, so I won the bonus round and got some antibiotics today! Mummy's gutted that I've lost some weight, but Dr. John says not to get too worked up about it. These things happen, and once I'm on the mend I'll stop throwing up and then the weight will come back on.

In other news -- I'm in the full stages of mimicking people! What you do, I will try to do. Put a toy someplace... I'll try to do the same -- wave your hand... I'll do the same -- push, press, move, shake, drop, pick up a toy... I'll do the same. This is a FANTASTIC game! Today at Dr. Johns... he had a little light that he put the tip of his finger over... and -- you guessed it -- I did the same!!! I am loving this!

My newest attempt at something this week was trying to put my slipper on my foot. I get that it goes on my foot...I just really don't get how to make it slide on there. Give me time... and then I'll do it! I also share really, really well. If I have something that I think is fun, I want to share it with Mummy or Daddy. I'll share toys, my Tubby, lint off the rug, and that little tag on the front of Daddy fleece... anything really. It's just good fun!

Well, that's kind of it for now... I'm going to have some sleep and try to get better.

Hi everybody! I have had a very, very exciting week let me tell you! I am -- truly -- an expert in the art of saying hi and by and waving by this point. OK...well, maybe I say 'hi' kind of randomly still, but I totally get the whole wave and say bye thing now! I have learned a mess of stuff this week -- I did a little dancing, I picked up my spoon when asked to, and I picked up my cup when asked to as well. I think I am finally getting the hang of this whole object name thing!!!

I tried mineola orange this week too, and I LOVED it! At first I was a little finicky with it, but then I shared a piece with Mummy and she ate it right up...so I figured it must be pretty good and I went to town on it. It was soooo yummy!!! I had peanut butter for the second time too, and I loved just licking it off the spoon! MMMMMMM... good stuff!

I had my first night away from both Mummy & Daddy, since my days in the NICU, just this past weekend. Mummy & Daddy went to celebrate their anniversary. I don't know what that is, but it seemed like they had a really good time. And me?? I spent the time with my Nana!! She came up on Thursday night -- I know that because when I went to sleep Thursday night she wasn't here, but when Mummy got me up Friday morning; she poked her head into my bedroom. I was SO HAPPY to see her!!! I love my Nana!! So she underwent intensive training in the ways of speed and trickery; which are both essential to feeding me. And she passed with flying colors cuz she great care of me when Mummy & Daddy went 'anniversaring'. (I'm sure that's a word, right??) We played and laughed, and had so much fun!! And the best part?? When I'm with Nana, it's all about ME!!!

When Daddy & Mummy were away they got me presents though. They found me a new walker that's big like me. I had one, but I got too tall for it, this one though is huge. and I love it! I also like to stand in front of it, and then I press the buttons and do a little dance! I love that!!! Sometimes Mummy dances with me, and that makes me giggle. Daddy took some video of me last night getting my groove on --maybe he'll post it this week! They also got me a new toy - a top that has balls that spin inside of it, and while that happens the top spins in a circle on the floor. COOL!!!! I'm glad that Mummy & Daddy had fun but it was nice when they came home... I got lost of hugs and kisses!

Well, I have a lot of stuff to do -- learning, dancing, playing. Have a great week!

My life... week by week.

1) Look at me... I rolled over all by myself during my nap! I'm a big boy!!

It would seem to the outside world that I’m not being very cooperative with eating this week…and that would be right. Maybe I’m sick and tired of my food selection… maybe it’s just too much work… maybe I’m kinda lazy… but whatever it is – I’m just not really doing it these days. Mummy’s trying her best to give me new things; that could kick me back into gear. I had some mashed potatoes which I likes, and we went out one night and I tried the center of a french fry and also some onion strings… I liked them all in very small amounts.

Daddy and I got Mummy BEAUTIFUL flowers for Valentines Day. I wasn’t sure what that was, but Daddy says it’s a day to be nice to people that we really, really love. I really, really love Mummy and so does Daddy so we wanted to love her up big style with the flowers. I told those UPS people specifically that I didn’t want delivery between 11 – 1, and 4 – 6 cuz that’s when I take my naps and I didn’t want to miss the happiness that I KNEW would be on my Mummys face. But what did they do??? They waited until I was schleeping and BOOM….(or should I say bLoom??) delivered the flowers!!! I think I should write them a letter expressing my displeasure!!

I am really getting the hang of saying Hi and Bye these days, and I like to wave as well. It’s kinda cool cuz it makes Mummy & Daddy laugh when I say it, and I like that. Sometimes I just say Hi, like yesterday morning when we got up. And sometimes I say it when Mum or Dad asks me to. It’s a fun game!

I had the BEST weekend – I went to stay at the home that my cousin Conner lives at. It was the best! Daddy, Mummy & I got to stay with Chris, Amber & Conner at their home. We slept in our own room, and I got to use Conner’s pack n play to sleep in – I thought it was very nice of him to share with me! We played with toys, and we all went to dinner along with Ambers Daddy! He was really nice, and he told funny stories! Conner drank his milkshake…that was funny too! We were there for Conner’s 1st birthday party! It was the best party, and Conner had a good time too!!! There were lots of kids there to play with and I had a great time. I hope that I get to see him again soon.

The Weight Debate

So, I went to see my GI Doctor (and I know now... NO relation to GI Joe, FYI) and they weighed me and then had a chat with Mummy. It appears that I've only gained 2 ounces last month and that's not such a good showing for a growing boy. Maybe for Cellar - it would be fine but as we all know, I am FAR larger than Cellar...she's just a tiny cat! So they determined that there wasn't really any room to try to get more food and stuff into me, so they need to just get more calories into me. We're trying a few new things now... a little something called DuoCal is supposed to give me more cals (fats and carbs) but not change the flavor of my foods. (Which was something I HATED with using the formula in my food...yuck ee!!) Mummy says it's one step forward and two steps back with me and eating... I do try, but these added carbs and stuff is making me not go poo - and that makes me not want to eat. I hear something about more prune juice and water. I hope that works!

Other than that...I keep trying to talk for real. Just this morning I said Mum... which made my Mummy soooo happy! I have also said "stomp, stomp, stomp" which actually sounds more like "tom, tom, tom" when I say it...and I said "yeti, yeti, yeti" which sounds more like "yeah, yeah, yeah" when I say it. But I'm really trying. I talk and talk all the time - it seems though that I am the only one who really knows what I'm saying!! I shall keep trying!

I have outgrown something else this week... my 12 month footie pajamas! I am too tall for them, they pull on my shoulders when I wear them! OK, sure the 18 month ones are really still too big...but I have room to S-T-R-E-C-H!

Guess what else happened this week?? My new cousin came. I think that the stork came and brought him to the same hosptial that I was in, but he stays in his parents room with them. WOW - lucky!! His name is Zachary, and he is about 1/2 the size of me in weight...and a meare 10 inches shorter than me. I heard Mummy say he wears clothes that are 3-6 month, he IS big!! He's also very sweet, and he sleeps a lot. He didn't seem fussed by all of my talking and yelling... he's a GOOD sleeper!

Monday is Funday...

Well...I hope you've all had a good week, cuz I've had a GREAT one! I have been doing that eating thing we talked about last week, and I'm getting really really good at it. And the drinking thing??... hold onto your hat, cuz I've gotten so good at that you won't believe it! A couple of times this past week, I've actually finished everything in my cup!!!

Mummy & Daddy have friends who have come to visit all the way from Turkey. They have a little girl too...and she is lots of fun! She is really cuddly and sweet, and she likes to hold me on her lap and kiss & hug me. She squishes my cheeks a lot as well - which is fine with me so far. :-) So their names are Auntie Jen, Uncle Orkun, and Zelin (Zay-lin). We've been having lots of fun, and they're going to be around for the whole week! Next week when I write my blog, I will have a couple of pictures for you to see!! Now we're invited to go visit them in Turkey, and I'm excited to do that someday. I've had turkey to eat, and I liked that - so I'm guessing that it will be similar...hmmmm...

I have an appointment tomorrow with my GI doctor...I wonder if they might be in any way related to GI Joe... what do you think?? Anyway, I find out tomorrow how much weight I have gained this month. I can't wait to see since I have been outgrowing my clothes and all that stuff. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes!

I don't have any other news right now. But I'll be back in a week!

I finally figured it all out... this 2007 thing -- it's a New Year!!! This year I will be 2, but not for a long time; not until September. I like this new year thing it's like starting fresh. I guess that a lot of people make something called new years resolutions...I don't do that stuff just yet. I have enough to concentrate on without adding other things that I should 'resolve' to do.

So when I went to my Dr. appointment in early January I actually broke the 20 pound mark. WOW -- I can hardly believe that. I weighed 20 pounds and 8 ounces and I know that I am getting bigger all the time. Yesterday... I actually was too big for a pair of my overalls!!! I AM GIGANTIC!!! I still love standing, and I can stand while holding onto the couch or the window seat or even my zebra and Mummy doesn't have to hold on to me when I do that! Now let's talk about my Bounce and Spin Zebra that I got for Christmas... I LOVE that zebra!! I can sit on it and bounce and bounce as long as I hold on! Sometimes when I am feeling especially big... I let go and give a few bounces. Mummy is always telling me that I need to hold on - but I figured I was plenty big enough to just bounce... until I fell off. I guess Mummy is on to something....

I'm really starting to like my food now. I have been doing something called 'nutritive eating' since January 12th (which was also my 16 month birthday). They say that means that I eat for actual nutritian instead of eating just to experiment. And I have been doing really, really good at this eating thing. I eat 3 meals a day and I don't need to have as many calories put into me through my g-tube. I'm also doing really well drinking from my cup. Mummy holds it for me... I guess that's because I always try to drink with the top of my head... or I like to just stuff my hand in the cup. I certainly get a lot more to drink when Mummy holds the cup for me!

I'm really loving my doggies and my kitty too. Cellar comes and sits with me during the day, and she lets me pet her and tug on her ears...she doesn't seem to mind and I like it cuz her fur is sooooo soft! Bruin - well he still comes and licks my face... his breath is a little less stinky these days so that's a nice change for me since his tounge is the size of my head! And Lola is just sweet...she comes over to me and sniffs me over good then she sits next to me and lets me pat her.

My Kelly says that I'm right on the very cusp of crawling...and I think she is right. When I really want something I can get myself nearly into that crawl position just to reach for what I want. PLUS Daddy bought me this cool 'car' that I can ride in and sometimes Mummy pushes me around the house and other times I sit in the car and push it backwards with my feet. I have gotten REAL good at that!!!! I can cross the living room in seconds flat! I like moving around and I think that will make me want to crawl too!

Merry Christmas everybody! I had a fantastic Christmas this year!!! It was nice to be so big and strong that I could do tons of stuff and really have fun!

A lot has been happening with us since I last posted. Let me think... the last thing I did here was my video of checking my email. I try to check that everyday, but since I have to do it with Mummy or Daddy I sometimes have to wait. It's OK though, I have tons of other stuff to get done in a day. So I have been getting bigger and stronger all the time, I weigh close to 20 pounds now, and I'm 30" tall. I LOVE to stand up and I do it well enough that Mum doesn't have to hold me up all the time... I can stand just holding onto something and I get better at that all the time. I think that soon I will be ready to stand on my own! Mummy gave me another small haircut before Christmas because some woman in the showroom of Gladstone Ford called me a girl... Mum HATES that!!!! But she says that my hair grows fast like Daddy's, and that I needed a big boy trim. I look pretty handsome if I must say so myself.

I have been working very hard with Kelly, my PT, and have been honing my skills for playing, rolling over, sitting up, and standing. I finally get that when you pick up a ball or something, you can actually put it back down again without flinging it across the room! Yeah for me!! Kelly calls that grab and release skills. I'm skilled!!!

I had 2 Christmas' this year. What a lucky boy I am. I spent the weekend before Christmas with Nana and my aunties Tracy & Pam (of course Mummy & Daddy too!) We had a really good time, and they got to eat a bunch of cool food... I tried some, but I still like my stuff better. THEN, I went to NJ to spend Christmas with my Uncle Sanjay and my Auntie Uchi and again Mummy & Daddy were there (it's not like I could drive myself to NJ). That was so much fun too! I loved my Auntie Uchi so much that just the sound of her voice made me smile! Bruin and Lola went with us to NJ too, and it was fun to have them there. They spent most of their time sleeping on some big, squishy chair called a lovesack. The looked like they were in love when they slept on it! Uncle Sanj & Auntie Uchi have a cute furry bunny named Chilindrina (Chillin-Dreena) who came out to play one night. Lola had to stay outside, and Bruin had to go in the other room while Chilindrina came out cuz they scared her bad! But she was so cute hopping around and she came by and gave me a sniff a couple of times. I got to touch her ear once...but then she was on the move.

So we're home now, waiting for something called 2007 to come along. I wonder if that comes by mail....
